One of the most preferred cosmetic surgeries is nose surgery. Our nose is our most
prominent and striking organ in the middle of our face, and the most obvious and easy application under the name of aesthetic beauty is to reshape our nose.
What is Rhinoplasty/Nose Surgery?
Aesthetic nose surgery, known as Rhinoplasty in the medical field, is a surgical intervention performed on noses that are damaged at birth, have an accident, have difficulty in breathing or only have visual impairments.
The common goal determined by the interviews with the surgeon is to change the shape, re-size the patient’s nose and make the nose symmetrical.
Am I a good candidate?
Rhinoplasty should be done for your own good and health. If the person struggles with this to please others, they may not be satisfied enough with the outcome. As with all plastic surgery, it is very important to have a realistic goal in this surgery. These; If your face has completed its development and your nose does not look the way you want, you are in good physical health and you do not have any chronic diseases, you are generally a suitable candidate for this surgery.
Another important part is smoking. Smoking should generally be avoided in surgical interventions and nose surgery is one of them. If you are a regular smoker, you should quit smoking on average 4-6 weeks before the operation. Because smoking delays your recovery process after surgery and may cause you not to get the result you want.
What is the procedure?
As in any surgery, the first step in rhinoplasty is the patient-surgeon meeting. The conversation to be made and the conclusion to be made during this consultation are very important. Try to ask all the questions you have in mind while you catch the surgeon. At the end of the consultation, you will have detailed information about the surgical process and the healing process. You should be sure of what you want about the result of the surgery and make this issue with the doctor. The surgery is done under anesthesia. Although it is a known type of surgery performed with general anesthesia or local anesthesia, the choice is usually determined by the procedures to be performed. Rhinoplasty surgery is performed with one of two main methods. It is performed as an open procedure with a secret incision hidden in the nose or an incision made from the area in the middle of the nostrils. To shape the nose, the upper skin is lifted and the lower bone is reached.
For very large noses, a part of the nasal bone can be taken. Cartilage can be transmitted and added from some parts of such regular exams to give the desired form. If the septum is deviated, it can be corrected and the patient’s breathing can be facilitated by reducing the excess in the nose.Additional incisions can be made on the folds to change the size of the nostrils. When the desired procedures are completed under the nose, the upper skin is closed again and the incision sites are stitched.
What is the postoperative process?
We recommend that you have a companion with you until the anesthetic effect wears off after the operation. Apart from that, the first week may be painful and bruised. The pain is mostly over within 2 weeks and the wounds heal. but it takes 1 year for the nose to heal completely and the swelling to go down and to get the desired form. With regular check-ups with your plastic surgeon, you will be informed about the use of medication, the dos and don’ts. Your task is to follow all these rules and take care of yourself.
The result you will achieve at the end of all this long and partially difficult process will be worth it. Interestmed will always be with you to offer you the comfort you need in this process. You can contact us for more.
